Part one is a rock show till the last 2 songs, part 2 is an electronic/re-edit show. My fave track for the electronic part would be the track by Record Mission (Nick The Record and Dan Tyler of Idjut Boys). For the rock part, Gloria Jones used to sing with Marc Bolan on all his late period stuff. The 2 Iggy & Yoko tracks are interesting for fans of either artist. Probably my fave of the rock tracks is the Timmy’s Organism track, though the Lizzy Mercier Descloux version of Mission Impossible is irresistible.

Grand Funk Railroad guiding the way for so much that came after them, yet seldom getting respect. NYC CBGB band Marbles that remain criminally unknown. Max E. Monroe (The Trash Company) beaming in from somewhere else. Australian Pip Proud, ready for a re-discovery. Keith Mitchell of Clay Allison/Opal/Mazzy Star when he drummed in Monitor. Netherlands band Dojoji in 1984. This show celebrates the underdog, just like Gulls Window Circus is itself.

Sparks from their underrated 1975 LP Indiscreet, then Gleaming Spires, with 1981 Sparks bassist and drummer, then a holy trio of tracks: Steve Harley, David Bowie, and Suzi Quatro – my eyes are going teary!… We pick up that magic again in the last 8 tracks of part 2, but nothing is here that doesn’t deserve to be – all good.

Starts with a few songs inspired by the Johnny Thunders documentary film Looking For Johnny, including pre-Only Ones band England’s Glory with the early version of ‘City of Fun’. The Dream Syndicate divide parts 1 and 2 with a track from their very first release on Down There, re-released as a 2×7″ on Blue Rose. Part 2 sees six tracks from the Soul Jazz comp ‘Punk 45: Extermination Nights in the Sixth City’ as well.

Psychemagik track uses David Crosby vocal of 1971 track ‘Orleans’ from ‘If Only I Could Remember My Name’ – nice! We stay chilled with Coyote’s track before the jolting vocal of The Pop Group, which serves as great prep for tracks by electric eels and Nots. The pop perfection of Chia Pet leads us into the electronic portion of the show, which includes a track from India re-edited by Boston legend Brother Cleve.

A fair amount of reggae-influenced tracks. New Age Steppers bring the On-U Sound post-punk sound to their reggae, with Ari Up vocals. Their collaboration with Creation Rebel moves firmly into dub. Jamaican Laurel Aitken gives us a 1978 track that pulls you right in, and Black Booby does a reggae re-edit. Peru’s Traffic Sound bring us to rock with a great cover of a 1968 Eric Burdon And The Animals track.
