The 10th week of the folk-unlike Gulls Window Circus series completes the letter ‘S’ and starts ‘T’. This week’s lesser-knowns (EVERY track chosen here is a 5 star affair) are Sopwith Camel, The Souls Of Inspyration, The Springfields, Terry Stamp, Joey Stec, Stumpwater, and Tall Bald Grandfathers. The A-list artists are The Smiths, Son Volt, Chris Stamey, Stephen Stills, Joe Strummer, Jim Sullivan, Matthew Sweet, The Teardrop Explodes, and Teenage Fanclub. The artists loved by many, but maybe sitting a little outside the typical public eye are Alexander Spence, American Spring, Kelley Stoltz, Bridget St. John, Dan Stuart, Subway Sect, Nikki Sudden, The Summer Hits, Sunflower Bean, Norma Tanega, and Team Dresch. Week 8 of folk-unlike on Gulls Window Circus covers the letters O-Q, with a side-stop on a missed L band starting off the show proper. This time the big names are The Only Ones, The Posies, Prefab Sprout, John Prine, Procol Harum, Suzi Quatro and Quicksilver Messenger Service, but you would be extremely short-changed if you didn’t immerse yourself in the lesser known artists, as those are the jewels the make this ring shine.
