A sneaky mix of old and new, with the big names from the past [Miles Davis, Vince Guaraldi Trio, Art Blakeys Jazz Messengers, Albert Ayler], lesser-known masters from the past [The Southern University Jazz Ensemble, Duke Edwards & The Young Ones, Jazz Sabbath, “Prince Igor” Yahilevich, Doug Carn, Rudolph Johnson, Dorothy Ashby And Frank Wess], and new artists planting mines in the time-tested waters of the masters [Theo Parrish, Madlib, Nala Sinephro, Ill Considered].
